19th International Conference on Publishing Studies: Information, Medium & Society – Madrid, 2nd July 2021

The call for papers for the Information, Medium & Society: Nineteenth International Conference on Publishing Studies is open. This academic event will be held at the Complutense University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in 2nd July 2021.

Information, Medium & Society – The Publishing Studies Research Network is brought together by a shared interest in investigating publishing practices as distinctive modes of social knowledge production. They seek to build an epistemic community where we can make linkages across disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries. As a Research Network, they are defined by our scope and concerns and motivated to build strategies for action framed by our shared themes and tensions.

This research network is interested in the following lines:

  • On the formation of social knowledge, navigating the construction of shared knowledge of the cultural and natural worlds, interweaving these with individual and community subjectivities.
  • On the changing processes of textual production and distribution from past to present, and the impacts of digitization and the internet on the future of publishing.
  • On the interdisciplinary and practice-focused nature of publishing as a domain of research, and measures of social impact.

The Information, Medium & Society: The Publishing Studies Research Network also supports a book imprint and a series of journals
